God Of Promises (Part 1)

When I was around three years old, my brother was in a terrible car accident. He was hit while riding
bikes with friends in our neighborhood. After many months of surgeries and recovery, he survived, and
our whole family began the long process of healing.

This event impacted not only our family but many of our friends, changing our lives forever. I often think
about my parents, a newly married couple, suddenly facing this crisis at the start of their relationship,
and I remember how, through it all — they leaned on God's promises.

One promise, in particular, has been a constant source of strength for me:

Deuteronomy 31:8  “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

I watched my parents continually turn to this promise. Despite the challenges, I saw them find comfort
in knowing the God of the universe goes before them, is always with them, and will never abandon
them. They didn’t get everything perfect, but they lived this truth in a way that deeply impacted my
brothers and me. We saw firsthand how the Lord worked through their faith, touching lives and showing
His faithfulness.

This promise speaks to me on a personal level. Even when I'm a knucklehead (which is often) and
struggle with this truth, I’m reminded: the God that spoke everything into being is with me, He won’t
leave me, and He doesn’t want me to live in fear or anxiety, worrying or being afraid. We are called to
trust Him with everything—big and small.

Reflect:
● Is there anything too big for our Lord to handle?
● Is there anything too small that He doesn’t want us to bring to Him?
● Are there areas of your life you're not trusting Him with right now? Why?
● Is there someone in your life who needs to be reminded of this promise today?
